Updates

Thanks for being a part of my support team of CLIFF DWELLERS.

Why “CLIFF DWELLERS?” For me, it’s so easy to get caught up the chaos of the valley of life where rivers run with roaring waters. Don’t get me wrong, rivers are beautiful and the busyness of life can be fun & exhilarating! But we must remember not to get bogged down with the chaos and struggle. With the help of a wise friend, I’ve decided to take on the mantle of becoming a cliff dweller.

Cliff dwellers rise above the chaos and turbulence. They examine, with fresh perspective, opportunities and obstacles so that they may go back down into the rivers to serve & lead well.

Behold, I am going to do something new in you. Now it will spring up… Isaiah 43:19

Heading Into the Journey: Three Reminders I’m Carrying With Me

Tomorrow morning, I step into a new role as I lead my first Camp Sonshine International trip. As bags are packed and final details come together, I want to pause and name a few truths I don’t want to forget once the journey begins. These are reminders I’m carrying with me, not just for today,…

Lessons From the Next Generation

How listening to young leaders helps us all grow What if the best way to raise leaders isn’t just teaching them—but listening to them? Over the years, I’ve discovered something powerful: young people aren’t just the future of leadership — they’re leaders right now if we’ll give them the chance. The more I serve alongside them, the more I realize that raising leaders…

God Guides Our Steps

One of the most comforting truths about following Jesus is knowing that He goes before us – aligning our steps long before we ever realize it. Before my parents were ever invited to serve as translators on Camp Sonshine’s Mexico trip, God was already at work. Just months earlier, my uncle, my dad’s brother, had…

Thank You for Being Part of the Story!

We’re so grateful to share that we’ve raised $3,100 of our $5,000 goal! We’re over halfway there! Every dollar represents someone saying yes to being part of what God is doing through Camp Sonshine — thank you! The Bible reminds us in 1 Corinthians 3:6–9 that “I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow.” Ministry is a…

“This is Dawn Dish Soap”

The Power of Play: How Camp Reflects the Heart of Jesus If you’ve ever walked onto campgrounds in the middle of the day, the first thing you’ll notice is the sound of laughter. Counselors playing tag, campers singing silly songs, water balloons flying – it looks like chaos, but it’s actually ministry. At Camp Sonshine,…

From “I’ll Never Go” to “Send Me”

This might surprise some of you who have supported me over the years—but when I first started working at Camp Sonshine, I told myself one thing: “I’ll never go on an international trip.” Cue the laughter now. Honestly, I’m not sure why I felt so strongly. Maybe it was stubbornness. Maybe it was skepticism. But…

God Called Me To Go! He Moved Big in Zambia (April 2025)

This past April, I had the incredible opportunity to travel with Camp Sonshine International to Zambia for my third mission trip. Each time I go, I see more of God’s heart for the world—and this year, His love showed up in unforgettable ways. We partnered with PLAEP to provide a week-long camp experience for 600…
