Heading Into the Journey: Three Reminders I’m Carrying With Me

Tomorrow morning, I step into a new role as I lead my first Camp Sonshine International trip. As bags are packed and final details come together, I want to pause and name a few truths I don’t want to forget once the journey begins. These are reminders I’m carrying with me, not just for today, but for every moment ahead.

1. I Am Surrounded by Prayer

I am not walking into this trip alone. I am so aware that there are people at home, friends, family, supporters, and partners, who are praying faithfully for me and for our team. Their prayers cover our travel, our unity, our safety, and the hearts of the people we will meet. When leadership feels heavy or uncertainty creeps in, I want to remember that I am being held up by the prayers of others and ultimately by the Lord Himself.

“Therefore confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.” James 5:16

“I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy.” Philippians 1:3–4

2. The Lord Has Equipped Me for This

God does not call us into something without also equipping us for it. This opportunity did not come by accident, and this role is not something I have stepped into on my own strength. Every experience, lesson, and season leading up to this moment has been preparation. I do not have to have all the answers. I just need to be faithful, available, and obedient. The Lord has already gone before me, and He will give wisdom, strength, and grace for each day.

“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.” Ephesians 3:20

“And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:8

3. God Will Do a Great Work Through Our Team

This trip is not about me. It is about what God wants to do through our team. He will move in ways we cannot predict or plan. Seeds will be planted. Faith will be strengthened. Joy will be shared. Lives will be changed, including our own. I trust that the Lord will use our obedience, our love, and our willingness to serve to do far more than we could ever accomplish on our own.
