Hello Wonderful Friend,
I hope this letter finds you well! The Lord has been working in my heart lately. I thought of you as someone I’d like to share this with and ask you to consider supporting me. I’ll just start by saying that the last year of ministry with Camp Sonshine has been full of milestones!
In January, I went on my first Camp Sonshine – International trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico! I got to serve two communities with both of my parents on our Camp Staff Team! My dad spent the week as a driver for our team, coordinator of a lot of our logistical needs, and translator for our team when needed. He even led sports activities with the kids during camp. My mom led the campers’ moms in a group all week. They would come together to do crafts and a bible study that she would lead! It was the first time we’d ever done anything like this together!
In April, I had the opportunity to travel with four others from Nebraska to help start Camp Sonshine – Zambia! We held two days of training to teach their 40+ volunteers who Camp Sonshine is and what makes us special. I had a team of 10 counselors to support and train during a whole week of camp. It came with some challenges with cultural differences, but I was mostly just blown away by how they caught the vision of Camp Sonshine so well and did BEYOND what we could’ve thought or imagined! I’m even more excited to see what is to come with so many leaders ready to sustainably run this program in the future.
In May, I embarked on my 10th summer on staff at Camp Sonshine in Nebraska. I am so honored to be leading a team of leadership staff at our Basecamp serving our youngest campers. I’ve loved the opportunity to help young leaders learn how to lead groups well. I’ve loved walking alongside our head counselors to help them train, support and encourage our staff well. I take great pride in coaching and training our staff to become great counselors and people with a heart to love children and teens in the name of Jesus. Seeing them succeed in sharing the gospel and managing a group of campers is so rewarding! I also take great joy in meeting and getting to know you and your campers.
I’m so grateful for you who made this year possible. As I’ve been thinking about this coming year, I’ve had Psalm 126:4 – 6 stuck in my head with this call from the Lord to DO IT AGAIN. I’m so excited to see how God shows up! The plan is for my parents and I to serve in Mexico one more time and for myself to go to Zambia once again. We feel a real pull to continue relationships built in Mexico and Zambia and to help leaders on the ground learn the DNA of Camp Sonshine so they can replicate it in ways that fits their context! It’s been amazing to see what God has done through the ministry of Camp Sonshine and we can’t wait to be a part of it again in Nebraska and around the world!
So you may be asking yourself, “where do I fit into this?” I would love your support in two ways:
- PRAYER – My first and biggest request is that you would join with me in this calling from the Lord through prayer! I know that I can do nothing apart from Christ, and it is through His power alone that these programs will have any impact on the people around me! If you do decide to commit to being on my prayer team, please let me know so that I can send you updates and specific prayer requests! I ask for prayer for our teams as we prepare. In Luke 10:02 it says “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” Please be praying for the Lord to work through us and the camp experiences we have the opportunity to provide.
- FINANCIAL GIFTS – I would also ask that you would prayerfully consider supporting me financially.
My goal for financial support is a total of $6,000.
Tarin Family (Adrianna, David, & Mona) Mexico Trip = $3,000
Adrianna Zambia Trip – $3,000
These amounts include general costs of the trip and flights to get there and back! Any gift, big or small, is greatly appreciated. If a tax deductible financial gift is something you feel called to do: Give here!
Ultimately, I’m excited to go on some adventures to build His kingdom with some amazing people in the name of Jesus. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me!
Loving children in Jesus’ name,
Adrianna “Banana” Tarin
